1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world’s largest private employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 2,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth’s population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

13. Wal-Mart has gross sales that total more than the total revenue of all the countries in the world, except 6.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To the President and all 535 voting members of the Legislature, both parties. It is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:

a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke

b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke. Especially after
Johnson took it out of the Trust Fund
it was suppose to be in and put it in a
government spending fund so it could be used for anything they wanted!!!!

c. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.

d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more.

e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.

f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.

g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before.
You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every “government service” you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.
AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM ?? YOU THINK YOU CAN RUN THE AUTO INDUSTRY…. THE BANKING SYSTEM?????

threat as bogus drivers (terrorists) can drop off anything to anyone

I had been a Detroit cop for several years when the department started the “Special Response Team” (SRT), a highly trained anti-terrorist SWAT unit. This was my dream! To

me that was the “Marine Corps” of the DPD. (I was a US Marine before joining the DPD). The physical and mental requirements were tough, but I passed and was accepted

on the team. Over 1,000 cops had tried out but only 16 were chosen. We spent the next 14 months in training and were certified by the state of Michigan in policing terrorist

incidents.

On our first operation, we were called out to deal with a mentally disturbed man pouring gasoline around an apartment building. Patrol officers had originally responded to

the scene. The apartment door opened just a little and they observed the suspect walking in circles, carrying a rifle. A lieutenant, a friend of mine, was then called on the scene.

The gunman fired through the door, killing the lieutenant. SRT was then called out to the scene. I asked if we could pray be- fore going in. My partner, Frank, was angry because I

wanted to pray, but I still prayed asking for God’s protection. We cut off the electricity to the building and shot gas into the apartment before going in

with our gas masks. Frank entered first after breaking down the door with a bunker shield. I was right behind him. The concealed gunman shot Frank missing the metal

trauma plate by inches. Frank’s last words were, “I’m hit” and fell at my feet. I was looking for the gunman’s position and he fired at me. The flash of the rifle revealed him as I saw him getting up to fire again. I pointed my pistol toward him, fired eleven rounds hitting him seven times and killed him. I then ran back to Frank, but Frank was dead. Little did Frank know that day that he would face God. That was a sad time in my life. However my story by no means ends there. Please read on…

I was born and raised a Shiite Muslim. After high school, I joined the Marine Corps. I served 2 1/2 months in Vietnam and after 3 years was promoted to sergeant. In 1970, I married my high school sweetheart. We had a written agreement that our children would be raised Muslim, though my wife was of a totally different religion. One day my sister-in-law and her husband invited my wife and I to a Bible believing church. I went thinking no one in my Muslim family would find out. We heard the gospel preached, and my wife responded by receiving Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Right away I noticed a change in her. When we left the church I asked my wife if she was still going to practice her religion. She replied, “No, I’m not”. I asked her how that could be. She said in her religion she knew of Jesus in her head, but now Jesus was in her heart! I warned her never to show the Bible to our son. The next two years that church continually prayed for me.

Meanwhile, I made life miserable for my wife. I did not let her use the car to go to a church she found a mile away from our home, so she walked regardless of the weather. However, I took our son to the mosque. I was fighting against Jesus! Christian men from her church would

come and talk to me about Jesus, but I tried to ignore them. Then, on August 26, 1975, I had a dream: I was in combat running with another Marine. We jumped into a foxhole and landed in hell at the feet of Satan! It was so real to me. Satan was laughing and pulled out a big knife and started stabbing the guy who was with me. I kept trying to stop him, but he would just laugh. I woke up at 4:30 am, got out of bed, and got down on my knees. I asked Jesus to forgive my sins and come into my heart and save me. As soon as I did that I felt a great burden lifted from my shoulders, and I was filled with joy in my heart. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

That was the greatest moment of my life. I thank the Lord for dying for a sinner like me. If you read this and don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please ask Him to come into your heart and save you. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8); “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.” (Rom 6:23); “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Eph 2: 8-9); “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” (I John 5:13). My favorite Bible verse is John 14:6. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus did not say there is any religion, man, or woman through which there is salvation….just through HIM.

Is Obama Actually Considering a Ban on the Burqa?

 Dr. Chesler has carefully documented the sharp distinctions between Western-style domestic abuse and that “Cold, Premeditated, Ritual Murder” which is part of Islam’s cultural and religious ‘heritage’. Don’t let anyone tell you there is a moral equivalence between the two.

 At the time, when I asked Dr. Chesler if she thought Bary was in danger should she be forced to return home, she replied, “Of course she’d be at risk. This is a script for an honor killing eventually. And she may not be safe even if she reaches adulthood without returning home. She could be targeted eventually”…

Is the Obama administration ready to consider banning the burqa in America-as France and Belgium have done?

I wasn’t there, I can’t be sure exactly what Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the other day in Melbourne, Australia but the reportage sure had me sit up and take notice.

According to an Australian news article titled “The Burqa Ban Has Merit,” Clinton said that “the belief that burqas should be banned in order to stop suicide bombers disguising themselves is a legitimate one,” and she also described the status of women as ‘one of the biggest pieces of unfinished business in this century.’ and said their persecution was a common factor in repressed and impoverished nations.” Secretary of State Clinton went on to say:

‘‘I know that in Pakistan, many of the men who are conducting suicide bombing missions arrive covered in a burqa,’’ and ‘‘If you’re a Pakistani police officer, respectful of the women of your culture and that’s being abused and misused by the suicide terrorists, that causes a real dilemma.

 

 So if you are looking at other countries that are understandably nervous about extremist activity, like France and other European countries, I think it’s a close question.’’

Clinton seems to be straddling two fences…

…she is suggesting that security concerns may trump cultural or ethnic customs and that the burqa itself may be part of the way in which women are being “persecuted in repressed and impoverished nations.” Although she specifically mentioned Pakistan she did not use the word Muslim.

Do her words represent a small and welcome departure from President Obama’s position-that of a respectful dhimmi-vis-à-vis the Muslim world?

Clinton’s words may represent a trial balloon, or they may be entirely spontaneous comments made in the course of a public conversation in Melbourne.

I have written many articles about whether the West should ban the burqa as France and Belgium have now done.

I have a more considered piece just out in the new issue of Middle East Quarterly which is not yet online. I do argue for such a ban, not only on the grounds of security, a case which Dr. Daniel Pipes has argued before, but also as a violation of a woman’s human rights. Think about it:

 

The face veil and the burqa (I am not talking about the headscarf) are sensory deprivation isolation chambers. They literally constitute a low-level form of torture which leads to both physical and mental illnesses.

 

 Imagine having no peripheral vision while you walk, imagine allowing no sunlight into your life for your entire life, imagine being at risk for dangerous falls. But also imagine the inevitable social isolation that such clothing, a “moveable prison” entails.

Most of all, please understand that many Arab and Muslim countries are banning or restricting the face veil and the burqa. They have security and anti-terrorist concerns of their own and they know full well that such clothing is not a religious requirement and that women have not always veiled their faces.

 

 From the 1980s onward, Turkish women have been prohibited from wearing face veils (and even headscarves) in parliament and in public buildings. Since 1981, women in Tunisia have been prohibited from wearing Islamic dress, including headscarves, in schools or government offices.

 

In October 2009, Sheikh Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, perhaps the foremost formal  authority in Sunni Islam and grand sheikh of al-Azhar University, Sunni Islam’s highest institution of religious learning, was reportedly “angered” when he toured a school in Cairo and saw a teenage girl wearing niqab.

 

 Asking the girl to remove her face veil, he said, “The niqab is a tradition; it has no connection with religion.” He then instructed the girl never to wear the niqab again and issued a fatwa against its use in schools. And on July 18, 2010, Syria became the latest Muslim state to ban full face veils in some public places.

When will the West wake up and smell the bomb/the fear and abject subordination of Muslim women?

I am not talking about freeing the women in Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia. I am talking about banning this visual symbol of political Islam, fundamentalist misogyny, and jihad on our own soil, in our own country.

Gas Station / Gas pump etiquette

Is there really a thing as gas pump etiquette or is it more like common sense? I work in a gas/convenience store. Everyday I see people who have no clue as to what they are doing. A comedy writer could get wonderful material by spending time watching people at the pumps or being behind the counter for a short time.

First off try pulling up to the furthest pump. Pulling up to the first pump blocks the way for the next person and believe me if you heard the names these people call you there would be reason to call the law as you would get as hot as they are.

Pay at the pump means using the credit/debit card reader with that plastic card you carry, not trying to put the money in the gas pump through the credit card receipt slot. We really did have a lady try to do this.

Turn off your stereo. I’ve had music (if you can call it that) so loud the bass was rattling the bottles on our shelves. It also helps if we need to communicate with you about something.

Put out your cigarette. You wouldn’t believe the excuses I have heard for why it is ok to have a lit cigarette while pumping gas. My 2 all time favorites are:

1. “I could throw a lit cigarette into a bucket of gas and it wouldn’t ignite.” Well I don’t know about you but this person needs to get a life if that’s all they have to do. Do people really do this?
2. “My father had a gas station when I was growing up and I know which way the fumes go.” Ok then, this makes perfect sense to me, not. I’ve worked in a gas station setting off and on for 15 years and I have absolutely no idea which way fumes go.

I’ve seen people toss their cigarettes near the semi delivering the gas to the station. This does not endear you to either the driver or the attendant. Blocking the drive when these guys are trying to maneuver these trucks onto a small lot also causes the drivers to become irate. I’m waiting to see the driver run the gas truck over the next car that just has to slip in there before the gas truck.

The windshield washer bucket is not the trashcan. That little towel belongs in the big barrel between the pumps and the squeegee belongs in the bucket not on top of the pumps.

Check before pumping that you have your wallet. Then check to make sure you have money, credit card, debit card or some other form of cash for payment. Every single day there is one person who either forgot their wallet or thought they had more on them before they pumped gas.

The answer before you ask is no. No, I don’t have money you can borrow to pay for your gas.
No, I can’t let you pay for your gas tomorrow. I have to account for each sale. If you can’t pay for your gas and drive off, I have to turn you in to the police. If you drive off and I don’t know who you are or busy waiting on others when you split then my job is gone. It used to be they would take the money from your check. Now the consequence is job lose.

I will, however, let you use my cell phone to call a family member or friend to either bring you your wallet or the money to pay for your gas. My question for this driver is, “Why are you driving without your wallet?”

When you spill gas on the lot, please know you are responsible for that gas. Talking to your friend and not paying attention does not constitute a reason for overflowing the tank. The person doing this always blames the pump. While there have been times when this has happened, most of the time it is people not paying attention. I had a lady wanting me to judge how much she ran over and give her credit on her credit card. Needless to say my boss got a call on that one.

When using change to pay for your gas please have it rolled. I have no problem accepting rolled change for a gas purchase. I do have a problem with the person paying with a baggie full of change. If I don’t have people waiting in line then I really don’t mind but it very rarely happens that way. I will be happy to give you rollers for your change since I have been in that same situation I understand using change.

Be polite when a problem arises. People who encounter problems have called me bad names. I will be more willing to help the nice people but I tend to let mean people wait a bit longer. I have had regular customers intervene on my behalf when dealing with an irate customer.

Be polite when when asking for directions and I shall put u on right path but dont expect that I know each and every small street in my neighbourhood.

Second when i do give directions please dont ask me Are you sure? If you dont trust my direction go and buy your own GPS devise.

And dont ask me directions for small street in town 25 miles away from my Gas Station.. Get it.

And when I say I dont know just dont try to act smart and use ratial slurt and send me back to my country. That really shows how you were raised by your parents.

A big issue for me is the impatient person who stands to the side and expects me to accept their money in front of the customers who have been waiting. I have one line. I tend to ignore these people while waiting on those in line. I have even told those on the side that the line is behind the third person. That customer’s response, ” But I am over here.” So he had to wait.

The people who throw their money on the counter are even worse. True the gas is paid for but if for some reason I don’t know the pump you’re on and ring out a sale for the similar price on another person’s transaction your pump will not be cleared. Thus I will still have an active pump and no car to pay for it. The camera may have your car as last one on the pump. Don’t assume the clerkwill know it was you who threw the money on the counter. Chances are if we are busy the concentration I need will be focused on those in front of me.

Do not leave your children in the car or let them play around the pump while you are pumping gas. We have seen a child shift the car and hit a pump. Luckily the clerk was paying attention and shut down the pumps. I have also had a little girl get gas splashed in her eyes because Dad didn’t see her beside him when he pull the nozzle out of the tank. Make sure the children don’t leave your side as people race into the lot all the time.

Finally make sure to hang up the nozzle. As most registers can’t pull up a sale until the nozzle is returned to the pump correctly leaving the nozzle in the tank to go inside to pay when it is shutoff is a waste of time. The other reason is so you don’t drive off with the nozzle still in your tank. This has happened and thus the manufacturers have invented breakaway nozzles and hoses.

Anyone who works in this field has seen all these behaviors and more. We meet a huge array of people. All of us have bad days on both sides of the counter.
